Day 10 - Robe to beyond Kingston - 106 km, 93 m - Ride total 866 km
We had two teams get away this morning 90 minutes apart, not because some wanted to sleep in, but due to the fact that there is no accommodation where our day's riding will finish. This means that Ian in the support vehicle will be providing a shuttle service back to Kingston for our overnight and then tomorrow morning drive us and our bikes back to the spot on the road we finished at today! That all makes perfect sense, I am sure!
Suth Easterly winds were predicted which is just ideal for us cyclists heading in a Westerly direction.
While Elio, Peter and Ian stopped for a coffee at the bakery I went for a short ride around Robe then met up with them for the ride out of town to Kingston whihc is about our halfway point and where we stopped for morning tea. On our way out of Robe we past some vineyards and wineries and then once again were back in very dryland grazing country - that's proabably why I happened to see a camel at one point! The Coast was never too far away from us on our left however we never reall got to see the ocean coz the low sandhills got in the way,
Ian tooted as he went by in the opposite direction taking the first four irderrs' back into Kingston and our Motel for the night - I carried on and caught up with Peter parked up at the pull-over area just before the stake in the ground that was to be our end point for the day's ride. However it made sense to carry on as I didn't fancy waiting there on the side of the road for Ian to arrive and we had said to ride on until he catches us up - that way it will be a shorter ride for tomorrow and if we are the second group under way tomorrow it also puts us nearer the lead bunch - well that was the thinking earlier today however as our bikes are already on the car, we're not taking them off just to put others on, so it looks like I'll be in the lead Bunch tomorrow.
I'm definitely over, eating out and pub meals etc. when it comes to our evening meal and yesterday as the units had cooking facilities, I suggested we eat in once again and Ian, Elio and I went off and did some shopping for our evening meal which last night was a nice scotch fillet steak each accompanied by a garden fresh salad an baguette bread stick. Before dinner we had drinks and nibbles of cheese, crackers, chips and grapes and our desert was a rocky road ice-cream. The picture below shows the boys who were on "Dishes" doing their thing.
