Day nine - Millicent to Robe - 87 km, 131 m - Ride total 760 km

We had scoped out a good bakery in Millicent and so it was there we went before we got underway on the ride today - they tell me their coffees were good, and I can tell you it was an excellent pepper pie!

The Garmin was working well today so there was no problem with the navigation like yesterday, not that there was a big need for directions as there isn't much choice and so long as the ocean remains on our left we must be heading in the right direction.

The landscape has changed yet again and now we are in what appears to be a huge flat-sh plain with grazing properties being the order of the day. While the landscape is lovely, I'd have to say that the "Skyscapes" are amazing if there is such a thing? The sky is a lovely blue with beautiful cloud formations that make me want to stop and try and capture what they look like as I go.

We stopped at Beachport for our morning tea stop today and this is another lovely well worth a visit seaside town just off the main highway, their Macadamia Caramel slice was exceptional and so I ordered a second for my lunch further along the way (actually it turned out to be my treat with my two cups of tea at then end of the ride).

I rode a fair chunk of today's ride by myself as the other Boys wanted to spend more time at Beachport while I felt like I was happy to make the most of the tailwind and that I did - for a good distance I was managing to get along in the low 30's speed wise and while my Garmin was recording each 5 km stage each time I felt I was going to see a PB (personal best) pop up on my screen in front yet another photo opportunity crops up so I would stop and that of course has the effect of lengthening the time it took me to ride the 5 km's! Not to worry as I feel the pics make it worthwhile stopping.

A little story of our night in the Gaol of a couple of night's back that I didn't get to share will have me doing so now. There were 22 young people also booked into the Gaol and they were part of the Sydney Japanese dive club from what we could make out - all nice enough young folk who were happy to let us know about the cave and lake diving they had been doing in the area as well as letting us know they had Abalone and Crayfish  set aside for their dinner. All good stuff. They were busy preparing their banquet meal and getting ready to eat it as we were heading off to bed at about 8:30 p.m. (bear in mind we'd had a big day on the bike, and it was dark by that time)! Well, they had a really good time and didn't hold back on expressing their enjoyment at all the fun they were having - only problem being the recreation rook in the prison that they had taken over was adjacent to our cells. Well, they didn't slow down or hold back and while I'm not a good sleeper at the best of times and probably don't need a solid eight hours uninterrupted sleep by about 1:47 a.m. I'd decided enough is enough - so up I got, dressed and off I went across the courtyard, boldly threw open the recreation door, walked in and down the length of it to the tables on which they were playing their very fun, (they felt) animated, ping pong ball, drinking game! Silence came over the room.

"It is 1:47 a.m., nearly 2:00 a.m. - zero tolerance" I said!

"Sorry, very sorry" was their reply, not to mention the guilty and sheepish looks they had on their faces during my walk down the length of the room before I spoke!

I didn't say anymore and carried on out of the room.

Credit to them they immediately ceased their drinking game and began packing up very quietly!

I even surprised myself as to how Bossy I can be when a push comes to a shove (although others who may know me, may disagree)...

All part of the fun of our "Rough and Ready, Cheap and Cheerful" supported bike tour!
